ArcelorMittal has invested 11 million dollars in a new line for rolling cold-welded pipes, located at its plant of Iaşi.
The press release states that the company wants to increase efficiency and to reduce costs.
With an annual capacity of 120,000 tons, the new rolling mill will allow the decommissioning of six old rolling mills for welded pipes, which had high operational costs, according to the officials of the company.
Gonzalo Urquijo, member of the General Management Board of ArcelorMittal, said: "This investment was made as part of the strategy to increase the efficiency of the plant in terms of costs, productivity and to better serve the market".
ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iaşi is the largest producer of longitudinal welded pipelines in Romania and a national leader on the market for mechanical pipelines.
