"Ecopack" Ghimbav will spend 2 million Euros from structural funds on modernization

• This year, the Sectoral Investment Program - Increase in Economic Competitiveness will provide an additional 400 million in funding for major investments

Ecopack Ghimbav is the only company of Braşov which received European funding last year for the financing of an investment project through the Sectoral Investment Program - Increase in Economic Competitiveness, as part of the operation intended for major companies. The amount obtained by the company of Braşov was 8.217 million lei (over 2 million Euros), money which will be spent on the modernization of the company"s tools and to finance expansion to new markets.

Some of the companies of Braşov which had submitted applications as part of that operation, but which failed to obtain the necessary number of points, include Comprest SA, Euro Tricot SRL, Elmas, Carmeuse Holding, Upruc CTR Făgăraş, Condmag or Dedienne Roumanie SRL.

On May 25th, a new call for projects was made, as part of the operation "Support for the consolidation and modernization of the productive sector through investments in tangible and intangible assets". The operation is dedicated to major companies, and its specific objectives are to support them in increasing their turnover and exports, in making of investments in modernization and increasing productivity, supporting companies in order to help them become more competitive in the market, as well as in increasing the innovation rate applicable to the industry.

The types of investments eligible for funding under this program are the expenses for the acquisition of land, the construction and modernization of buildings, the purchasing of fixed assets, as well as the acquisition of intangible assets, such as software applications strictly related to this project, patents, licenses and know-how, unpatented technical solutions, including software for handling the production process and the management processes of the company - all directly tied to the production process afferent to the project.

The total budget allocated for this call for projects is 400 million lei. The projects can be submitted by mid-August, and the winners will be announced after their evaluation.
