The NBR governor recently criticized the lack of professionalism in the financial media, and his rant included the organizers of the "Romania Financial Forum 2011". He mentioned "Ziarul Financiar" and "Mediafax" which took his quotes out of context. Furthermore, the governor said, in "Ziarul Financiar", the author of the article was advising Romanian officials (including Mugur Isărescu) to go and talk to investors and present them the economic potential of Romania, in order to attract investments.
Mugur Isărescu yesterday warned that such an initiative would be seen by investors as a red flag, and as a sign that Romania is in a critical situation.
Mugur Isărescu criticized the way televisions (even the public television) have been treating economic issues lately. He said that some of the moderators "had their grins on", hinting that the shows were biased. He reminded that in one TV show, the official of the NBR was not allowed to end his speech, and was cut off by advertising.
