• The fortune of the Royal Family was valued at 180 million Euros, in 2010
His Royal Highness Prince Carol Mircea of Romania, father to Prince Paul, was acknowledged yesterday by the Romanian courts as first legitimate son and legal heir to his Majesty King Carol the 2nd. As a result, Prince Paul is entitled to 62.5% of the fortune that the Royal Family owns in Romania - estimated at 180 million Euros in 2010 -, as well as the same quota of the fortune owned by the Royal Family in other countries, once Prince Carol Mircea was acknowledged in those countries.
The High Court of Cassation and Justice yesterday issued a definitive and irrevocable ruling in favor of His Royal Highness in the Exequatur case, by which it requested the recognition of the ruling of Lisbon, issued 55 years ago, which acknowledged His Royal Highness Prince Carol Mircea of Romania since back in 1955, as the first legitimate son of his Royal Highness King Carol the 2nd. The ruling of Lisbon has also been acknowledged in France, Great Britain and Switzerland.
So far, Prince Paul has won in Romania, as well as in other European Countries, all the appeals made by his uncle, former King Mihai I of Romania, in this lawsuit. Last year, Prince Paul has won the lawsuit in the Court of Strasbourg, which had been filed 21 years ago.
"Since 1991, when we initiated these proceedings, we have never lost our faith in the Romanian legal system. This lawsuit is first of all, a matter of honor for my family and one which I have continued on behalf of my father, His Royal Highness Prince Carol Mircea of Romania", His Royal Highness Prince Paul of Romania said.
The representatives of the Royal Family said that His Royal Highness Prince Paul will claim his fortune, but this does not represent a priority: "First of all, there will be an official acknowledgement, and he will then become the head of Romania's Royal House. Also, His Royal Highness Prince Paul wants to get back the paintings that King Mihai took with him when he left the country, because they are part of the national heritage. He has already identified the places where some of them lie".
Out of the 62.5% quota of the fortune of the Royal House which belongs to Prince Paul, 37.5% comes from his father, Prince Carol Mircea, and 25% from his step mother, Elena Lupescu.

"I enthusiastically and responsibly praise the decision of the High Court of Cassation and Justice to acknowledge a ruling issued 57 years ago in Portugal. The Romanian trial, which has ended after 21 years, was a matter of honor for my family.
I hereby express my hope that what happened today will be a first step towards reconciliation and peace within the Royal Family.
I am sorry that my father did not have the chance to live this moment. I am however happy that my son was born in a free and democratic Romania.
The Romanian people has the right to know its true history. Benefiting from a fair justice system is a sacred right for any citizen, in a true democracy.
We are all the witnesses of a historic, democratic event, which I hope will contribute to the positive evolution of Romania.
I respect the fact that we live in a Republic, that is why I will continue to unconditionally dedicate my life, just like I did so far, to supporting and promoting Romania's image in the world. It is a debt of honor of every member of the Royal family.

Note: Exequatur represents the acknowledgement of a court ruling rendered by a foreign court, according to the international treaties signed in Hague and Copenhagen, in another country, in this case, in Romania.

- 1955, Portugal - His Royal Highness Prince Carol Mircea of Romania wins the lawsuit against his younger brother, former King Mihai 1st of Romania. The ruling of the Court of Lisbon acknowledges Prince Carol Mircea as legitimate son of His Highness King Carol the 2nd of Romania. As part of this lawsuit, Mihai 1st of Romania acknowledged the legitimacy of his older brother. The succession lawsuit was opened, and the royal inheritance was divided according to the Napoleonic Code: 37.5% would go to Prince Carol Mircea, the older son of his Royal Highness King Carol 2nd, 37.5 % would go to Mihai 1st of Romania, the younger son, and 25% would go to the widow, Princess Elena, born Lupescu.

- 1963, France - Mihai the 1st of Romania loses the appeal against His Royal Highness Prince Carol Mircea of Romania filed with the Court of Cassation. Following this definitive ruling, Mihai the 1st acknowledges all the succession rights of his older brother and will share with him the French fortune of his deceased father.
- 1964, United Kingdom - The High Court names his Royal Highness Prince Carol Mircea, the father of his Royal Highness Prince Paul of Romania, as lawful director of the fortune of his deceased father, His Highness King Carol the 2nd of Romania. In this position, the older son will divide the royal assets found on the territory of the Kingdom of Great Britain with his older brother, Mihai the 1st and with widow Princess Helena, born Lupescu. Mihai the 1st accepts the sharing made by the administrator of the estate.
- Between 1991 and 2011, His Royal Highness Prince Paul won all the appeals filed by his uncle, former king Mihai the 1st of Romania.

The news is biased towards the man who thinks he can claim towards the Royal Family 'Paul', he isn't a prince and will never be and neither will his son be acknowledged as a royal, they're good for nothing publicity seekers
