Six official documents, of which two exclusive distribution agreements, were signed yesterday by the Korean and Romanian companies which attended the seminar held by the South Korean Government Agency "Kotra". The deputy minister of Energy and Knowledge of South Korea, Park Young June, said, quoted by Agerpres: "South Korea is very interested in bringing Korean products to the Romanian market, as well as in importing Romanian products. Korean importers are interested in equipment, mechanical components, fertilizers and Romanian wines". The Korean official mentioned that Korean companies may be interested in cooperating on large scale projects in which Romania is involved, such as the project of the AGRI gas pipeline.

He said: "Unfortunately, Korea does not possess the Candu technology to get involved in the project of building the reactors 3 and 4 of Cernavodă. But if Romania will show interest in the Korean technology for developing projects in that sector, Korea is open to cooperation".

The Romanian authorities maintain that Korean products which will be imported for use in the environmental and waste management products are a lot cheaper than similar products for the same quality.

Some of the official documents signed yesterday include the memorandum of understanding between "Kotra" and the General Association of Engineers in Romania on cooperation on identifying companies that will develop partnerships for environmental projects in Romania, a draft for a memorandum of understanding between "Kotra" and the County Council of Prahova, by which the Korean Governmental Agency will support the involvement of South-Korean companies in the environmental projects of Prahova, as well as a partnership agreement between ANT 21 and Almacons of Romania, which entails the cooperation of the two companies on environmental projects.

Also JAIN of South Korea signed two exclusive distribution contracts with Romet and Orion Construct Proiect. Romanian company Romet will become the sole distributor of on the Romanian market of ultrasonic flowmeters for water, whereas Orion Construct Proiect will become a distributor for electric flowmeters. Also, Korean company Dongho and InterGroup Engineering signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on the drafting of the feasibility studies for water treatment in the town of Voluntari.
