"The risk exists of a new real estate bubble happening"

Romania may run into a new real estate bubble, says Şerban Ţigănaş, the president of the Order of Romanian Architects, who made that statement as several experts in the field are talking about the occurrence of a new boom in the market.

Still, in his opinion, the local construction market could follow a healthy path, if we succeed in assessing and understanding the changes that the sector is going through in Europe.

Mr. Ţigănaş claims that more attention should be paid to the lifetime costs of the buildings: "This concept started being discussed a long time ago in Europe and we can't ignore it any longer".

In 2013, we had an average construction market of approximately 1,570 Euros per capita in Romania, whereas the European average was approximately 3000 Euros, according to Şerban Ţigănaş.

In his opinion, Romania has a problem with responsibility when it comes to construction works. The architect said that this aspect does not represent the exclusive responsibility of specialists in the field, but it should also be a joint effort of all those involved in constructions.
