Approximately 20,000 Romanians will go to the seaside on Labor Day - May 1st, but only a quarter of them will use travel agencies for this purpose, according to Traian Badulescu, spokesman for the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT).
So far, travel agencies have secured only 5,000 tourists for May 1st, according to ANAT information. "Romanians are still not used to making travel arrangements in advance. Most of them will go to the seaside without anything planned," Badulescu told NewsIn.
On the other hand, only 40-50% of the seaside hotels will be open on May 1st. Badulescu pointed out that, while most Romanian hotels would open on June 15th, despite the good weather, Bulgarian hotels had been open on Easter, too. Stressing that Bulgarians are offering all-inclusive packages, whereas Romanians do not, Badulescu believes that some 10,000 Romanians will spend Labor Day in on Bulgarian beaches.
