540 Mln RON In Overdue Loans Logged At End-April

The overall value of overdue loans taken by consumers and companies amounted to 549 million RON at the end of April, according to the National Bank of Romania (BNR). Over 20% of the overdue debts was logged in Bucharest, which ranks first in the country with overall overdue debts of 165.6 million RON.

Cluj comes second with 27 million RON, Ialomita third with 23 million RON, Timis fourth with 21 million RON and Brasov fifth with 19 million RON. At the other end of the list, Tulcea residents have the smallest overdue debt - 1.9 million RON, followed by Salaj with 2.9 million RON and Olt with 3.23 million RON.

At the end of April, the total value of RON-denominated loans granted by commercial banks amounted to 52.55 billion RON (up from 50 bln RON in March), of which 26.11 billion RON was borrowed by companies and 25.6 billion RON by consumers. The value of forex-denominated loans was 48.89 billion RON in EUR equivalent, of which 27 billion RON to companies and 18.8 billion RON to consumers.
