A small fortune: the players in the Romanian Soccer League are worth 320 million Euros

The Romanian soccer league and the real estate market are similar in many respects, because in theory, the sum of their parts is worth a lot more than their parts considered separately.

The Romanian football championship has a market value of EUR 320,575,000, being ranked the 13th largest in Europe, according to the prestigious German website "transfermarkt.de".

The value of the competition comes from the worth of those competing in it.

Based on this, the Germans have estimated the worth of each European football championship, and the transfer value of every player, based on several parameters: age, the number of games played in their national team, trophies won.

The final numbers that the German website got are close to those in the real market bids and the offers of the real market, which is why they are worth mentioning.

The 500 players of the 1st Romanian league have a total transfer value of EUR 320,575,000, a small fortune, meaning each club would get EUR 17,809,722 on average.

Unfortunately, the weak results of Romanian players both with their national team and with their foreign clubs in European competitions, caused a decrease in the number of Romanian players transferred abroad.

Many teams are suffering from a lack of cash, as the market for transfers suffered a contraction in line with that of the real estate market, in which most club owners were active participants.

Compared to the most powerful national championship in Europe, Premier League, the Romanian 1st league is worth ten times less. The British footballers are worth almost as much as one IMF installment, 3.2 billion Euros.

• Timişoara - the most valuable club

Surprisingly, the most valuable Romanian football club is FC Timişoara, which took the fifth spot in the last championship.

The players of the club owned by Marian Iancu are worth EUR 33,275,000 together. The champion CFR Cluj is worth EUR 28,600,000, ranking third after Steaua, whose players are worth EUR 31,500,000. The last spot in the chart is held by Astra Ploieşti, which barely avoided being demoted to the lower league: its players have a combined worth of just EUR 8,350,000.

• Florin Costea - the most valuable footballer

According to the German website, the most valuable player is Florin Costea, who plays at Universitatea Craiova, who has an estimated price of EUR 4,000,000.

The second most valuable player is Costel Pantilimon, who is being courted by several British clubs: (EUR 3,700,000). The top seven player chart has 4 Romanians and three foreigners. Out of them, just two players have concrete offers: Wesley who got a proposal from a Spanish club, and Nicoliţă who plays for Steaua and got a proposal from Emirates.
