EnglishSugar producer Agrana Romania, the former Zaharul Romanesc, posted a net profit of 20.22 million RON (6.45 million EUR) in the first half of the year, recording an 81% increase from 11.17 million RON in the same period last year, according to a company announcement. Turnover amounted to 176.89 million RON (56.44 million EUR), down by 16.25% from 211.22 million RON in H1/06.
Financial profit amounted to 9.76 million RON, as compared with 18,000 RON in the corresponding period of 2006. Operating profit was 14.43 million RON, recording an 11.14% increase from 12.94 million RON in the same period last year.
Agrana Romania has a share capital of over 14.45 million RON, divided into 144.54 million shares with a face value of 0.10 RON. The majority shareholder is Agrana Zucker Gmbh, with 91.12% in the company, followed by the Authority for State Assets Recovery (AVAS) with 4.05%. The company is listed on Rasdaq as BETA.
