EnglishAker Yards, one of the world"s five largest shipbuilders, has entered into a contract with DOF Installer for the building of a commercial vessel. The value of this contract is approximately 760 million NOK (95 million EUR).
The vessel is an Anchor Handling Supply Vessel based on the Aker Yards design AH 04 CD. The hull for the vessel will be built at Aker Yards Tulcea and outfitted at Aker Yards in Norway. Delivery is scheduled in Q4 2010. The vessel will have a bollard pull in excess of 350 tons, and will be outfitted with a triple drum winch of 500 tons. Accommodation is planned for 90 persons.
In the past DOF has been involved in more than 30 contracts with Aker Yards. With this contract, 14 of the vessels in order by DOF are of Aker Yards design.
Aker Tulcea SA ended 2006 with a gross profit of 17.32 million RON (4.9 million EUR), compared with a net loss of 16.31 million RON (4.5 million EUR). Turnover amounted to 297.9 million RON (84,6 milioane euro), down 19.4% from 369.7 million RON (102.1 million EUR) in 2005.
