Alcatel-Lucent Romania reported a gross profit of 78.1 million RON (over 21.5 million EUR), for the fiscal year 2006, a 69% increase from the past year, According to data published in the Official Gazette, quoted by NewsIn. Turnover amounted to 473 million RON last year, up 27% from 272 million RON in 2005. Also, the number of employees increased by 14%, reaching 1,100.
Alcatel-Lucent, the parent company, reported an operating loss of 244 million EUR for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, compared with the 246 million EUR profit in the same period last year. The result is a consequence of the merger between the two companies. The group expects a 10% rise in global sales in the second quarter.
In May this year, Alcatel Romania became Alcatel Lucent - Romania, following the merger between Alcatel and Lucent. The Romanian subsidiary coordinates the group"s operations in ten other countries in southeastern Europe, including Balcanic countries, Greece and Cyprus.
