Alpha Bank Romania yesterday launched its POS card payment services for retailers, which allow customers to make payments in lei, Euros or dollars, using regular cards or smartcards, according to a press release issued by the bank.
The bank"s POS devices which will allow retailers to accept payment from their customers will accept Visa or Mastercard cards.
Payments in lei made through the bank"s POS"s, will be settled within at most a day, which will allow users of the service to begin using their funds within the shortest delays. Furthermore, the bank will provide its customers with daily account statements, providing detailed information for each transaction.
The bank does not charge any setup or maintenance fees and will offer free training for the use of the POS, as well as online verification of the transactions made, allowing retailers to check the validity of the customers" cards.
The service can be used by any retailer, regardless of its daily turnover, but Alpha Bank will charge a monthly fee according to the receipts volume, and a fee for the use of GPRS terminals.
In order to receive a POS terminal, retailers must submit a request for approval with the bank and open a current account with Alpha Bank.
