Alstom Power Italia, of the French group Alstom, will built a unit for the desulphurization of exhaust gas valued at 227.5 million lei (53.3 million Euros) for two energy blocks of energy producer "Complexul Energetic Craiova". Alstom Power was awarded this contract after winning, on December 16th 2011, a call for tenders launched by the energy producer.
The contract will cost 17% less than the initial estimate (64.2 million Euros), the Craiova energy complex announced.
The works will be co-financed using European funds. According to the contract, Alstom Power will not be allowed to subcontract the works.
"Complexul Energetic Craiova" is owned by the Romanian state, through the Ministry of the Economy. Alstom is one of the most important makers of equipment for the energy and railroad sectors in the world.
In Romania, the Alstom group owns three companies, namely Alstom Power Romania, Alstom General Turbo and Alstom Transport, as well as a center for coordinating environmental projects in the region.
