Amonil Slobozia Cuts Losses by 24.2% in Q2

Chemical fertiliser producer Amonil SA Slobozia posted losses of 2.25 million RON (719,710 EUR) in the second quarter of 2007, down 24.2% from losses 2.975 million RON in the same period last year, according to a report to the Bucharest Stock Exchange. Turnover amounted to 4.21 million RON (1.4 million EUR) in the second quarter, down nearly 64 times from 74.2 million RON in Q2 2006.

Amonil reported losses of 7.14 million RON (2.27 million EUR) for the first half of 2007, compared with losses of 3.8 million RON in the same period last year. Turnover amounted to 8.57 million RON (2.73 million EUR) in the first six months, down 17 times from 146.35 million RON in H1 2006.

Amonil estimates losses of over 10 million RON for the current year, due to the shutdown of three facilities. The company expects revenues of 11.83 million RON, while expenses should amount to 21.8 million RON.

Amonil is listed on Tier 2 of the Bucharest Stock Exchange as AMO. The company has a share capital of 111,265,809 RON, divided into shares with a face value of 0.1 RON. The significant shareholders in the company are Eurotrading Chemicals SRL (28.16%) and Zalois LTD Belize (24.99%).
