Pharmaceutical company Antibiotice Iasi has organized recently a public debate on the report concerning the environmental impact of the waste incinerator the company intends to acquire and the environmental agreement necessary in order to start up the incinerator.
According to company representatives, the waste incinerator will destroy up to a ton of industrial waste per day. SC Antibiotice SA produces maximum 30 tons of waste per month, which is presently taken to the ecological deposit in Valea Lupului, which is owned by the company. However, hazardous waste is stored inside the factory until it is transported to incinerator companies. The investment in the new waste incinerator will amount to approximately 1 million EUR, but it will solve the company"s waste management problem, including that of hazardous waste.
According to the preliminary financial report, last year Antibiotice Iasi obtained a gross profit of 30.159.307 RON, increasing by 6,45 million RON year-on-year. In 2006, the company posted 195.886.517 RON in turnover, compared to 163,497 million RON in 2005. As for the current year, the company expects a 20% growth in turnover and a profit of approximately 10 million EUR.
