Arad - Szeged pipeline will be ready by the end of the year

The Chairman of the County Council of Arad, Nicolae Ioţcu, has visited the site where pipes used for the Arad - Szeged pipeline are being assembled. He added that the sector between Nădlac and Pecica will be ready in September 2008, and it is currently 80% complete. Ioan Pârvu, Sales Manager of SC Amarad SA Arad, general developer of the works. "The gas pipeline between Arad and Szeged will be completed by the end of the year. The works will cost an estimated 68 million lei", he said.

"We think the gas pipeline will become operational by the end of the year, especially as, according to our information, the Hungarian section of the pipeline has almost reached the border", the Sales Manager of "Amarad" said.

According to data provided by "Transgaz", the gas pipeline will have an output of 4.4 billion cubic meters a year, or an hourly output of 500 000 cubic meters /hour. The pipeline will have a total length of 109 km and it will have a diameter of 700 mm.

In Romania, the interconnecting pipeline has a length of some 61.7 km between the Horia junction point (near Arad) and the border crossing point Csanadpalota (Nădlac) on the border between Romania and Hungary.
