ARPIM/APMGR: The supplementation by 175 million to BaT starting from the 4th quarter is necessary

The Romanian Association of the International Drug Manufacturers (ARPIM) and the Association of Generic Medicine Manufacturers in Romania (APMGR) consider that the supplementation of the drugs' budget must be considered a priority for the Romanian patients, being necessary an extra allocation of 175 million lei to the budget quarterly approved (BaT) starting from the 4th quarter of the current year, according to a common press release of the two associations recently sent to the editorial office.

     ARPIM and APMGR "welcome the concern of the authorities for the improvement of financing the healthcare system by the increase in the budgetary allocation for the healthcare sector, taking into account the additional collection compared to the level planned, of over 350 million lei from the clawback tax", it is showed in the press release.

     According to the same source, the next step is to give priority to the additional sum allocation, "a context in which the Romanian pharmaceutical industry draws attention to the fact that the current allocated budget for drugs doesn't meet the real treatment needs of the patients. For this reason, the drugs' budget supplementation must be viewed as a priority for the Romanian patients, the extra allocation of 175 million lei to the budget approved quarterly (BaT) being necessary starting from the 4th quarter of the current year (2014)".

     Călin Gălăşeanu, the ARPIM Chair stated: "The health state of the population and the country's economy are directly affected by the financing level of the healthcare system. Romania needs a healthy population and for this reason, the authorities must make efforts to increase the GDP percetange allocated for the healthcare system from 3.9% as it is now to at least 7%".
