MGV Distri-Hiper Romania, the Auchan operator in our country, ended 2006 with turnover of 19 million EUR and losses of 4 million EUR, according to a financial report sent to NewsIn. The French hypermarket operator Auchan holds 29% in Romanian operator MGV Distri-Hiper. Auchan opened its first store in our country in November 2006, in Bucharest. The investment amounted to 40 million EUR.
Auchan group plans to open four more stores this year in Targu-Mures, Cluj-Napoca, Pitesti and Bucharest, followed by two hypermarkets in Constanta and Timisoara. The French group Auchan is present in 11 other countries and operates 389 hypermarkets.
