AutoItalia, importer of the Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati and Ssangyong brands on the Romanian market, sold 9,804 cars in the first eight months of 2007, recording a 64.5% increase from 5,961 units sold in the same period last year, according to a company press release quoted by NewsIn.
The best-selling brand was Fiat with 5,997 units, up 59% from the first eight months of 2006. Sales of Fiat commercial vehicles rose by 87% to 3,448 units.
The company sold 11 Maserati cars in the first eight months, up 57% year-on-year. The number of Alfa Romeo cars sold between January and August increased by 12% to 166 units. Ssangyong sales rose 1% to 185 cars. Lancia sales dropped 43% to 17 units.
In August, Autoitalia sales in Romania totalled 1,511 units, recording a 32% increase from 1,145 cars sold in the same period last year. The company expects to sell approximately 15,000 units by year-end, as compared with 10,452 cars sold last year.
