The State Assets Recovery Authority (AVAS) has concluded negotiations with Al Arrab Company Ltd. to privatize Electroputere - Craiova and will sign the contract in the near future. Al Arrab offered 2.3 million EUR for 62.82% in Electroputere and agreed to pay Electroputere"s 61 million EUR debts and make investments of another 20 million EUR.
The initial list of prospective investors comprised A5 Invest SRL - Caransebes, Grup Feroviar Roman SA, Vienna International Holding SRL, Al Arrab Contracting Holding SRL and Peeker Atomic Energy System Inc. Following preliminary selection procedures, A5 Invest, Grup Feroviar Roman and Al Arrab qualified for the next stage. The first two were later eliminated for not fully observing the privatization requirements.
Al Arrab is an infrastructure company whose portfolio includes projects in Iraq, Qatar, UAE, Jordan, Bahrain, Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia. Electroputere was established in 1949 as manufacturer of electric engines. The company has a share capital of 12.4 million RON.
