Azeri investments in Arpechim

Azerbaijan is interested in investing in the Romanian petrochemical industry, namely Arpechim Râmnicu Vâlcea, Tudor Şerban, the state secretary in the Ministry of the Economy yesterday said. He said that during the high level meetings between Romania and Azerbaijan, the Azeri state expressed its interest in investing in gas storage containers as well as in Oil Terminal Constanţa. Azerbaijan is interested in investing in Romania in order to help the transit of its oil and gas production to Europe.

Also, Mariana Gheorghe, the general manager of Petrom, yesterday said that Petrom"s negotiations with Oltchim for the sale of Arpechim have come not yet yielded any results, and she said she hoped they would complete by the end of the year. The majority stake in Oltchim is owned by the Romanian state, and the first Azeri investments in Arpechim will most likely only happen once ownership of Arpechim reverts to the Romanian state.
