Baumix Revenues Up 10% In H1

• Company expects the new grout to generate over 500,000 EUR in revenues

After completing a 2 million EUR investment in retooling the production facility in Gherla, Baumix became one of the few players on the building materials market in Romania that achieved growth in the first half of the year, based on the information released by the management. According to a press release to BURSA, Baumix secured a 10% year-on-year increase in revenues in the first half of the year, despite the general precariousness of the market, which is expected to lose approximately 30% in value this year, from the roughly 350 million EUR reported in 2008.

The newly commissioned production line will add a new fibre-strengthened grout to the Baumix portfolio. The management estimates that the new product range will add some 500,000 - 600,000 EUR to the company"s turnover this year. "The good results we reported for the first half of the year were achieved through investments in expanding the product portfolio, optimizing costs and implementing a marketing strategy adapted to the current market context. We expect to match last year"s values by the end of this year and secure 11 million EUR in turnover," said Baumix CEO Augustin Russu. According to him, the new grout product range fills an empty niche on the domestic market, as the imported products are not adapted to the technical requirements of the Romanian market.

Baumix is present on the Romanian market since 2003 and has two factories, in Ploiesti and in Gherla, with an aggregate production capacity of 35,000 tonnes per month. The company"s makes professional products for indoor and outdoor finishing, including products based on resin for finishing industrial flooring. Besides these complex products, Baumix also makes an extensive range of additives for mortar and concrete.
