The crisis has severely affected the Romanian private sector, with over 15,300 companies filing for bankruptcy in the first three quarters of 2009, and this number is expected to increase to 20,000 by the end of the year, according to Bogdan Roşu, sales manager at debt collection company EOS KSI Romania.
"Risk for SMEs is increasing, with the value of unpaid receivables nearly doubling over 2008", said Mr. Bogdan Roşu.
Expectations for 2010 are just as gloomy as the ones for 2009, with the official of EOS KSI Romania considering that individual and commercial debtors will increase, and as a result so will the number of foreclosures.
EOS KSI Romania was incorporated in December 2002. Less than two years later, the company became a leader of the receivables collection market, with a market share of over 40%.
This year the company hired 200 employees to allow it to handle the increase in demand, with the total number of employees reaching 700, located in all the major areas of the country.
The collection market was worth EUR 25 million in 2008.
