The decision will be made at the end of June, with 1,000 - 1,500 jobs over three years

Over 1,000 jobs in the IT and telecommunication area might be created in Braşov over the next three years, if the board of the German company T-Systems International GmbH, one of the global divisions of Deutsche Telekom, decides to open a branch in the city.

The representatives of the company met with the officials of the mayoralty of Braşov, as well as with the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and of the University of Transilvania, to discuss the possible opening of a branch in Braşov, as the market competitors of the company include IBM and HP. "We currently have 25,000 employees, as well as those working in other countries. T-Systems is looking to move to countries of Central Europe which involve lower costs and we are looking for that ratio to change. Romania is a very important potential location for us, and that is why we have wanted to visit Braşov, to get an impression. Over the next three years we want to hire 1,000 - 1,500 employees", said Ben Carl, head of programs and strategies at T-Systems International GmbH.

The management of the company is reviewing three possible locations for the new production unit, as aside from Braşov two more potential locations of Bulgaria and Macedonia are being considered. "By the end of the month of May I want to present two options to the board of the company. The location will be selected at the end of June, and from that moment on, until the end of the year, we want to open a pilot unit with 150 - 200 employees", the official of the German company said.
