The domestic film industry has good news from the authorities. The program to attract investments in film production in Romania is extended until December 2026, and the new call for projects will be launched in May this year, announced the Minister of Culture, Raluca Turcan. According to the minister: "At the proposal of the Ministry of Culture, the Government adopted measures to align the financing system of film production in Romania with the evolution of European norms, by extending the duration of application of this program, until the end of 2026, as well as raising the annual threshold to the value of 55 million euros. In May, the Film and Cultural Investments Office will open the new project call session". Raluca Turcan also added that in parallel with the redefinition of the project registration and financing stages, for a better allocation of the budget, these measures provide the necessary framework for Romania's return to the international production market, estimating that, after the opening of a new session and by the end of 2026, direct investments of at least 350 million euros will be attracted to Romania. "I am extremely happy to support the restart of this special project for our country, not only from the economic perspective and the development of the film industry and related industries, but, above all, to bring valuable Romanian professionals back home. Of the previously submitted projects, 10 will be resolved this month and we estimate that all arrears will be completed by the middle of this year", Raluca Turcan also pointed out. The authorities have made the first move, now it's the creators' turn.
