Business people about the listing of the Proprietatea Fund

Mircea Simion Vescan, the chairman and managing director of "Armax Gaz" Mediaş, the maker of equipment for the energy industry, praises the current manager of the Fund, which he thinks will cause state owned companies to be managed in a fair manner. Mr. Vescan said: "The Proprietatea Fund is one of the best placements for domestic investors. It is a fund which doesn"t allow Romgaz to do what it pleases with its money. I think it"s only now that the state will learn to correctly manage the companies in which it is a shareholder".

Dinel Staicu, former president managing director of SIF "Oltenia": "I think that just like any incumbent business in Romania, the Proprietatea Fund could become a successful business. After its listing, we will a lot of buyers and sellers".

Monica Fufezan, the manager of the clothing maker SC "MODA" SA Arad: "Because of the crisis that we are going through, I am not very confident when it comes to investment funds. The fall in the value of stocks listed on the stock exchange makes me pessimistic and makes me want to stay away from the shares of the Proprietatea fund. I may be wrong, but I am not interested in shares, as a company, nor as an individual investor. Had you asked me the same question five years ago, I would have probably invested some money in this stock".

Iosif Pop, former chairman of the Transilvania Bank:

"The listing of the Proprietatea Fund is a moment that has been eagerly awaited and that"s not because of its name or because it has large assets. The fund benefits from a very professional approach of its listing, and when one hosts road-shows in other countries as well, one raises the interest in the capital market of those countries. The merit of this campaign is that it has sparked interest in the entire stock market and has caused great expectations. This is proven by the fact that foreign equity has begun pouring in and over the past few weeks I"ve seen fresh money in the market. I am sorry that I didn"t buy shares in the Proprietatea Fund when I had a very good offer. This was before the talks about its listing and I had some good offers from people who received shares in the Fund as compensation. Of course, it"s still not too late, especially now that the market is rising. I will be watching this stock anyway, as I have a portfolio of stocks and I have been constantly active on the stock market since 1996".
