Transportation Minister Ludovic Orban met with Bulgarian counterpart Peter Mutafchiev in Calafat to discuss various matters of common interest, such as the construction of the Calafat - Vidin and Bechet - Oreahovo bridges, as well as upgrades to the road infrastructure on the two shores of the Danube. The ministers discussed expediting the Calafat - Vidin bridge construction in order to have construction works started in the first half of 2008 and completed in 2010. The bridge would have 1.97 kilometers in length, four traffic lanes, one railway, a bicycle lane and a sideway on each side. As for the Bechet - Oreahova bridge, it was discussed to have it built through a public - private partnership.
