The management of "Dafora" Mediaş was forced to turn to the Ukrainian courts in order to recover the three million dollars which it is owed by a company for which "Dafora Ukraine" performed drilling works two years ago.

"An arbitration proceeding was launched in the Court of Kiev and I estimate that it will take from five to six months until it"s completed", said Teodor Orzan, the manager of the drilling division of "Dafora".

"Dafora" entered the Ukrainian market in 2007, when it created "Dafora Ukraine", whose main line of business was providing services for oil and natural gas extraction. At the end of 2007, "Dafora" began work for the drilling of a first oil well in Ukraine. In June 2008, "Dafora" announced that the it had begun drilling a second well, as part of a deal concluded with LLC SPE Atol. The contract for the drilling of the second well has an estimated amount of two million dollars.

The management of "Dafora" yesterday stated that behind the company called "Atol" would be an Ukrainian billionaire, called Konstantin Jivago.

"We asked who owns the company that didn"t pay for the works we performed in Ukraine and we found that behind it is located an Ukrainian who is rumored to have a fortune of nearly 1 billion dollars. He has enough money but he refuses to pay our invoices", Teodor Orzan said yesterday.

In mid July this year, the management of "Dafora" announced that the company returned to the Ukrainian market, almost two years after it ended its last works there. As a result, "Dafora" signed a contract with "Krim Petroleum Company" (KPC), the Ukrainian partner of Norwegian company "Tiway".

"Dafora" wants to reduce its reliance on domestic clients

The management of "Dafora" said that it plans to reduce the over-reliance of the company on the domestic market, by increasing the weight of the foreign contracts in the total turnover of the company. The company has a maximum of seven customers on the foreign market.

"Dafora"s strategy from now on is to expand on the international market, in order to have our foreign contracts account for up to 35% of the total turnover, while decreasing the weight of domestic contracts to at most 65-70%. This would eliminate the risk of a potential crisis on the domestic market affecting our business", Teodor Orzan added.

The representatives of the company also said that the company expects to receive a positive answer in the coming weeks concerning a drilling contract in Western Europe. Approximately two months ago, the representatives of "Dafora" mentioned that they sent offers for drilling contracts in Germany and Austria.
