IT outsourcing company "Capgemini Services" could begin operations in Iaşi in autumn this year, and could create at least 250 new jobs at first, according to discussions between the mayor of the city of Iaşi, Gheorghe Nichita, and the vice-president of the company, Gavin Westwood.
"It is a good thing that such initiatives appear in the midst of this crisis. This could create at least 250 IT jobs, and the number could double if the company decided to work 24 hours a day. It has thus been proven that the strategy we adopted two years ago was correct. We considered the IT sector as one of the factors tightly connected to the academic medium that could help the development of Iaşi, and we were right", mayor Gheorghe Nichita said.
"Capgemini operates in over 30 countries and has approximately 90,000 employees. The company has EUR 8.7 billion in revenues. We will open an external resource center in Iaşi and we will provide IT service outsourcing. We will hire more than 250 people at first, and we may later hire as many as 500. We already held many interviews where we had a lot of well qualified applicants, speakers of foreign languages", Mălina Iancovici, the official of "Capgemini Services" România SRL, said.
"Capgemini" will primarily hire young graduates for entry-level positions, to work for two of the company"s foreign customers. The new technology center in Iaşi will provide "first line IT help desk support", including process management services and technical support.
The company has been operating in Romania since 2006, for now in a single office operating in Bucharest, which will be joined by the office in Iaşi in autumn. "Capgemini", headquartered in Paris, is one of the world leaders in consulting, technology, outsourcing and "local professional services", and it operates in over 30 countries.
