Carrefour, the leading retail group in Europe and the second largest in the world, has opened the 11th Carrefour Express store in Romania in the town of Hunedoara. The opening is part of Carrefour"s plan to consolidate on developing markets through a locally-adapted approach under a single brand. The newly opened Carrefour Hunedoara has a sales surface of over 1,000 meters and carries some 6,000 products.The overall investment in rebranding the former Artima store into Carrefour Express was some 6 million EUR. Carrefour acquired the Artima chain in 2007. At that time, Artima had 21 supermarkets with an overall sales surface of 21,000 square meters in western Romania. The complete rebranding process of the 21 supermarkets into Carrefour Express will take approximately one year.
