The Casa Verde program will be investigated by the prosecutors of the General Prosecutor's Office after the inspectors of the Control Body within the Ministry of the Environment found that there are leaks of information that are not of public interest and that could favor certain companies, said Minister Mircea Fechet, quoted by HotNews.ro.
"I studied the control body's report, which I approved. He presents the situation as it has been reported in the press, namely the fact that there are suspicions regarding leaks of information that are not of public interest and that could favor certain companies. In this sense, in addition to the fact that there is also a check by the authority for the protection of personal data, considering that trust in state institutions is very difficult to build and very easily lost, in this situation I decided and submitted the body's report of control and to the Prosecutor's Office next to the High Court of Cassation and Justice", said, according to the cited source, Mircea Fechet, the Minister of the Environment.
According to him, the inspectors of the Control Body are not specialized in deciphering the way in which certain databases were or were not interrogated outside the law, and that is precisely why the report received by the minister was redirected to the prosecutors, especially since there was a high number of notifications received from citizens and beneficiaries of the Casa Verde program.
Minister Fechet states that the beneficiaries "were contacted by certain entities that had no way of obtaining this information except as a result of data leaks from the Ministry of the Environment, more specifically from the Administration of the Environmental Fund, to which was also added the what my colleagues have already verified, namely how that information and databases are managed; they discovered that indeed there might be some vulnerabilities in terms of accessing those databases."
The Minister of the Environment claims that the number of notifications and complaints he personally received via email and WhatsApp is probably higher than those sent to the Ministry.
"But even one if it existed and was founded, I would have proceeded in the same manner, which is to have zero tolerance for such practices which, if confirmed to be true, not only should the guilty pay, but even more important is that in the future such things do not happen again. Zero tolerance means that state institutions will continue to do their duty and find out exactly what happened there. For now, zero tolerance means that we have sent the respective report of the Control Body to the Prosecutor's Office", Mircea Fechet also said.
The list of installers validated to install photovoltaic panels in the Casa Verde program was published last Wednesday by the Environment Fund Administration, among the 500 validated companies there are also those complained of having illegal access to the personal data of program participants, it announces cited source.
The total budget of the Casa Verde 2023 program amounts to 1.75 billion lei.
