The Thermo-Electric Power Plant (CET) - Iasi has a new management team as Neculai Costica is the new CEO, replacing Didi Melinte, who resigned for health reasons. Dan Iordache has been appointed as Technical Director, while Didi Melinte will become a consultant within the company. The new directors have already prepared a deep reorganization project aimed at structuring production capacities according to the quantities of electric and thermo energy required by the market, an idea which could lead to some job cuts, too.
"There is need for a new policy, to produce only as much as it is necessary. We need to see what the priorities of the company are. If we only need so much energy, we only produce so much using only the required staff and resources to do so. These are difficult times when we need to make the plant as efficient as possible," Neculai Costica said. CET-Iasi produces 25 gigacalories per hour in summer time, which is enough to ensure hot water to the city. In winter time, consumption increases to at least 160 gigacalories per hour. Considering this, CET-Iasi will hold a tender in April to procure 200,000 tons of coal. "We want to take advantage of the fact that coal is cheaper in this time of the year and build our stocks for the cold season in advance, so that we avoid the problems we had in the recent years," Costica added.
The new Technical Director, Dan Iordache, will hold this position for at least one month and focus on the reorganization of the company.
