The Colgate-Palmolive toothpaste factory in Brasov, Romania, is going to be closed within a broader restructuring process that will also lead to the closure of similar factories in Anzio (Italy), Gebze (Turkey) and Salford (UK). The factory in Brasov is going to be relocated to Poland.
"The employees, who have already been informed about the closure of the facility and assured they will receive support after they are made redundant," said spokesperson Thomas DiPiazza. The move comes as part of Colgate-Palmolive"s aim to consolidate its production in eastern Europe. The re-organisation will be carried out gradually and should be completed by the end of 2008.
