EnglishThe Competition Council has authorized the economic concentration resulting from the acquisition of Ductil Steel SA - Buzau by Mechel International Holdings AG - Switzerland. Following an inquiry, the Council determined that the economic concentration would not restrict, nullify or significantly distort competition on the specific market in Romania.
On 2. November 2007, Mechel International Holdings AG acquired Ductil Steel from Lakewind Ltd. Mechel is part of Mechel Group OAO based in the Russian Federation. Mechel Group operates in mining and steel milling, electricity production and transportation, port management, marketing and distribution. In Romania, Mechel also controls steel mills Mechel - Targoviste and Mechel - Campia Turzii.
