Romania"s Competition Council is probing the contract signed by Agricover, Jabbar Kanani and Bunge Romania for potential unfair competition clauses, a Council press release announced on Wednesday. According to the Council, Agricover - Buzau, Mr. Jabbar Kanani and Bunge Romania signed a cooperation contract setting the terms and conditions of their commercial relations in the field of procurement and marketing of grains (wheat, barley, corn) and oil-bearing seeds. According to the Council, the contract gives Bunge a preemptive right to sunflower seeds and grains.
"In the event that the parties do not agree on the conditions for selling grains and sunflower seeds, Agricover is entitled to offer such products to third parties, under terms and conditions that must not be more favourable than those offered to Bunge Romania," the press release indicates.
