Our country will participate in this year's edition of the London Book Fair, from March 12-14, under the motto "Voices of Freedom". The Romanian presence is dedicated to all generations of native writers, announces the Romanian Cultural Institute. Within the Romania stand, located in the central area of the fair, approximately 350 volumes of Romanian fiction will be exhibited, albums dedicated to contemporary artists and Romanian cultural heritage, as well as English translations of books written by Romanian authors, supported by the Institute through the programs of TPS and Publishing Romania financing. The selection of titles will be accompanied by informative materials about the book market in Romania (catalogues, flyers, brochures). ICR has prepared a program of events including book launches, conferences and spoken word performances, which will take place over four intense days at the Institute's stand at the fair, ICR London headquarters, the Barbican library and Conway Hall . The protagonists of the current edition are the writers Mădălina Căuneac, Liliana Corobca, Prof. Hannah Dawson, Paula Erizanu, Prof. Suzannah Lipscomb, Cosmin Perţa, Florentin Popa, Alina Purcaru, Maria Stadnicka, Matei Vişniec, Elena Vlădăreanu. Writer and editor Marius Chivu, Bogdan Creţu, writer and literary critic, together with editors Eli Bădică, Alex Ciorogar and Susan Curtis, artist Iulian Morar, translator Gabi Reigh and cultural manager Milena Deleva complete the list of participants. "I express my hope, my conviction that Romania's presence, far from being formal, will be noted both qualitatively and quantitatively. Because, especially in the area of literature, there is an unprecedented synchronization of the Romanian literary environment with contemporary Western literature, thematic and valuable", declared Liviu Jicman, ICR president. The Romanian participation in the London Book Fair is organized by the National Book Center and the Romanian Cultural Institute in London, with the support of the Romanian Embassy in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Ministry of Culture, the Association of Romanian Publishers, Conway Hall and the Barbican Centre. The international book fair in London / London Book Fair, hosted by Olympia London and dedicated exclusively to professionals in the world book industry, is rated, in scope, as the second international manifestation in profile.
