Construction of three out of a total of five antihail missiles launch points has begun in Iaşi

The work for the construction of three of the total of five launch points for antihail missiles in the county of Ia i, belonging to the Moldova 1 Regional Antihail Center, has recently begun in the towns of Coarnele Caprei, Hodora and Ruginoasa. The time frame for the completion of the works is 90 days, claims Neculai Olariu, deputy director of the Ia i Agriculture and Rural Development Department. The beginning of these works represents the second stage of the program for the commissioning of the Moldova 1 Regional Antihail Center, after the headquarters of this compound has been delivered this summer. It is located in the city of Dancu, county of Iaşi, and its construction has begun in 2006. The total investment needed for the commissioning of the Center amounted to 12,5 million lei, with the money being allocated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development. The Regional Antihail Center will operate 16 rocket launch points, which would thus cover an area of 180.000 de hectares. The launch points include the towns of Cătălina, Hodora, Maxut, located around the Cotnari wine-producing region in the county of Ia i, the villages of Coarnele Caprei, Schitu Duca, Bosia, Comarna ş.a., well known for their cereal growing potential, but also in the wine producing area of Huşi, in the county of Vaslui.
