The National Consumer Protection Authority (ANPC) deployed on-site inspection and information units in the Danube Delta as of 15 July, with the support of the Tulcea County Prefect"s Office. "In order to make sure that the tourists in the Danube Delta enjoy quality products and services, we have organized tourist information and counselling services regarding the basic rules they need to follow upon purchasing products or contracting services. These activities are taking place concurrently with the regular site inspections specific of the season," ANPC President Bogdan Marcel Pandelica told BURSA.

The consumer protection campaign is taking place between 15 July and 31 August 2009 and is coordinated from two sites: Tulcea (the office of the Tulcea Council Consumer Protection Authority, phone no: 0240-515.658) and Sulina (the Sulina Town Hall, phone no. 0240-543.111). The office in Tulcea coordinates the continental area and a part of the Delta: Tulcea, Mila 35, Somava, Jurilovca, Gura Portitei, Colina, Uzlina Dunavatul de Jos, Dunavatul de Sus and Mahmudia. The office in Sulina will coordinate operations in Sulina, Crisan, Mila 23, Sfantul Gheorghe and Rosu Resort. In both cases, the opening hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Throughout the campaign, ANPC inspectors will receive and resolve consumer complaints, supervise the application of the legal framework on consumer protection in the fields of food & beverages, sales of non-edible product and tourist accommodation and leisure services. Concurrently, ANPC inspectors will also offer advisory services to companies in relation to the laws and regulations on consumer protection.
