The labor market specialized in IT has moderated in the last 12 months, even if there is still a shortage for certain specializations, Corina Vasile, executive director of the Software and Services Industry Employers' Association (ANIS), told us.
Corina Vasile stated: "From recent studies we see that the number of job offers for entry level is lower. The IT workforce is one of the most mobile, with specialists having the opportunity to work from Romania for companies here or from other jurisdictions. Actual migration is also possible, especially in countries where the cost of living is equivalent or lower than in Romania, or where public services (e.g. education, health) are of better quality - an important factor in the decision to relocate , especially for those who have children".
Regarding the impact on the workforce of the government measure to reduce the tax benefits granted to employees in the IT sector, the ANIS representative stated: "The impact was significant on the industry as a whole, with over 90% of our member companies appreciating in the annual ANIS Sentiment Survey study that the reduction of fiscal facilities is "significant" or "major". It must be taken into account that in the industry the cost of labor is the highest cost element, because the products and services provided are based on the knowledge of specialists, whether we are talking about software development or the implementation of complex digital transformation projects, for example . It must also be taken into account that the teams and companies from Romania are in competition with any other companies in the global market, and the cost is a critical element".
Mrs. Vasile also showed that at this moment in the IT sector we are dealing with a mix regarding the work regime (full-time, part-time, fully-remote, partially-remote), but the most common is the hybrid one.
