COSMOTE Romania expands coverage across all Bucharest metro stations

COSMOTE announces it has secured quality coverage across all 42 stations of the Bucharest metro network in record time of less than a year.

COSMOTE metro network is based on innovative design techniques that allow capacity upgrades with minimum interventions in the infrastructure located in the nearby premises.

"COSMOTE will continue its aggressive investment plan into expanding network coverage and offering quality services in all indoor and outdoor areas where Romanians travel, work and live. Apart from the territorial expansion, COSMOTE is currently upgrading the capacity of its network in the main cities in order to accommodate the increasing number of customers. By the end of the year, COSMOTE will secure coverage of over 97% of population and 87% of territory, thus having the most modern and extended network in Romania," said COSMOTE Romania Executive Director for Network Development and Operations, Mr. Lampros Iskos.

The Bucharest metro network is used every day by approximately 600.000 people, , a number estimated to rise by nearly 10% every year.

The coverage of the metro network was delivered in less than a year, a record time on the Romanian market, in accordance with the fast expansion rate achieved for the entire COSMOTE network at a national level. COSMOTE currently offers nearly 97% population coverage and 84% territorial coverage, using state of the art equipment provided by leading providers, including Ericsson, Siemens and Alcatel. Responsible for the development of the company"s network is COSMOTE Romania"s Network Development and Operations Department which numbers more than 250 professionals.
