Cosmote Romania has reported nearly 1 million new users for the first half of 2007, bringing the total count to 2.22 million at the end of June 2007 (11% market share). The company gained 633.420 new customers in Q1 and 357,442 new customers in Q2. Over 65% of the new customers were acquired through Germanos, a leading telecom distributor that gained Cosmote Group last year. In turn, Germanos posted a 45% growth in telecom subscription deals and 260% in telecom post-pay deals compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
At the end of H1, Cosmote Romania reported revenues of 63.6 million EUR, up by 354% year-on-year from 14 million EUR, pointing to a 39.2% increase in EBITDA from H1:2006 to 18.6 million EUR. Net losses halved to -20.7 million EUR. The blended average revenue per user (pre- and post-pay) gradually increased to 6.2 EUR in H1. The company expects to reach a positive EBITDA in 2008 and a net profit in 2009, three years after entering the Romanian market.
Cosmote Group reported capital spending of 219 million EUR in H1, of which 84 million EUR with Cosmote Romania: network capacity expansion, coverage expansion and commercial development. Cosmote Group operates in Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania and Macedonia and reported operational revenues of 1.4 billion EUR for H1, up by 37.5% year-on-year.
