In the coming period, the leadership of the County Council Braşov will launch the proceedings for taking out a 10 million Euros loan. The money is needed for several investments as well as for the acquisition of the "Urban Civilization Museum", located in the Sfatului Square. The building underwent restoration a few years ago, but it was later restituted to its original owner.
Now the Local Council is allowed to practice its preemption right when the owner will put the building on sale, which has already happened. Members of the County Council yesterday voted on taking out a 10 million loan, but requested a list of the projects the money would be used on. The draft project only sketched some very broad uses for the loan: road infrastructure, healthcare and education, preservation, restoration and exploitation of historical and architectural monuments, rehabilitation and development of the environment and tourism infrastructures.
A loan for the construction of the airport
The County Council yesterday approved taking out a 14 million Euros from BCR, which will be used for the cofinancing of of the Braşov - Ghimbav International Airport. The company that won the auction, IntelCan successfully secured 84 million dollar loan from a consortium of British banks. Given these factors, work on the construction of the airport could begin soon. Aristotel Căncescu, chairman of the County Council, said the Canadian company committed to complete the airport in 18 months.
