Cristian Pârvan, of the Romanian Businesspeople Association: "We have proposed the creation of a strategic investment fund"

This would be created by issuing 10-15 year government bonds exclusively to the population, which would be tradable on the stock exchange

Businesspeople support the Government"s anticrisis measures, who consider however, that their form, their methods and their schedule had room for improvement, said Mr. Cristian Pârvan, the secretary general of the Association of Romanian Businesspeople - AOAR. He said: "We favor bold action by the Romanian government. We have proposed the creation of a strategic investment fund, because we have limited resources available, by issuing 10- or 15-year government bonds to the population, which would be tradable on the stock exchange. Since the population has from 15 to 20 billion in bank savings, we expect the fund would have about 5 billion available, which would be available for making investments".

Businesspeople have also proposed that the infrastructure works should be auctioned off in smaller chunks, of 20 km instead of 100 km, thus allowing more companies to access this market. Mr. Pârvan also said: "We believe that there is room for economic growth, but this won"t come by itself, it needs bold actions. We are skeptical when it comes to the recovery of the jobs, if work isn"t encouraged by any means. And we have made proposals concerning this subject as well. These proposals have even included a legislation that would be temporarily valid".

Businesspeople remain optimistic for 2011, just as they were optimistic in 2010, considers Cristian Pârvan, who adds: "We must warn that the idea that Europe"s recovery would extend to Romania is, in our opinion, unrealistic. Europe has its many difficult issues of its own".
