The appointed Prime-Minister Lucian Croitoru has begun negotiating with the political parties for the creation of a government that would pass the vote of confidence in the Parliament.

Yesterday, Lucian Croitoru had talks with the leaders of the Liberal-Democrat Parties, following which he said "he feels encouraged" and that liberal-democrats are " flexible" when discussing the new governing formula.

Leader of the PD-L, Emil Boc, emphasized that his party "will not cling" to any ministry and is fully willing to back the Croitoru government.

Following discussions at the headquarters of PD-L, Lucian Croitoru mentioned that he would prefer a Government backed by a parliamentary majority, instead of a national coalition.

However, in a parliamentary majority, Lucian Croitoru would need the support of parliamentary parties which have already announced their support for Klaus Johannis - PSD, PNL, UDMR and the minorities. And the designated prime-minister seems willing to make any compromise with those parties, in particular PSD, for obtaining a Parliamentary majority.

Croitoru asks PSD to nominate three candidates for the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Lucian Croitoru asked social-democrats to nominate three candidates for the position of Minister of Administration and Internal Affairs, who will be tasked with the organization of presidential elections - the cause of the disagreement between PSD and PD-L, which led to the breakup of the Government.

PSD repeatedly accused Traian Băsescu and PD-L that they intend to rig the elections by using their control of the ministry and that the intention of president Băsescu and of PD-L is to keep Vasile Blaga as Minister in order to supervise the organization of the elections.

Social-Democrats were quick to respond, saying that "Lucian Croitoru makes a false offer", suggested during negotiations with PD-L.

In turn, liberals said that they would send president Traian Băsescu a letter requesting that he appoint Klaus Johannis as prime-minister as well as dismiss Lucian Croitoru. Crin Antonescu, president of PNL said he would try and convince the other parties, - PSD, UDMR and ethnic minorities - to sign the letter as well.

Băsescu is willing to consider any solution in order to solve the political crisis

President Traian Băsescu yesterday said he would be willing to consider all the possible alternatives in order to solve the political crisis.

The options include the presentation of a second cabinet if the one formed by Lucian Croitoru is not validated, postponing the decision until after the presidential elections or the dissolution of the Parliament. According to NewsIn, Băsescu said that the dissolution of the Parliament is not "desirable", but can"t be ruled out as a constitutional solution for solving a political crisis: "I do not wish the dissolution of the Parliament, but if I can"t come up with a constitutional solution for putting a new government in place, it may become necessary. In fact, when politicians can"t come up with a solution, it"s up to the people to do so".

The President concluded, by adding that any decision he makes will take into consideration Romania"s relationship with the IMF and the EU concerning the tranches of the loan agreement.
