The Minister of Culture, Raluca Turcan, announced the allocation of 140 million euros for a large cultural investment project, "Cultural Foundations", the total estimated net cost of which is 280 million euros. Raluca Turcan spoke about the project: "The financing for the largest cultural investment project was signed today. Together with Marcel Boloş, the Minister of Finance, we are bringing 140 million euros to the "Cultural Foundations", for the saving of historical monuments and the construction of buildings with a cultural destination. The total estimated net cost of the project is 280 million euros, of which 140 million euros represents Romania's contribution to the project". According to the minister, "Cultural Foundations" aims to preserve heritage and improve access to culture through 14 investment objectives: the Romanian National Opera in Iaşi and the Romanian National Opera in Bucharest, the National Museum of Natural History "Grigore Antipa" in the capital, the National Museum "Constantin Brâncuşi" in Târgu-Jiu, the Batthyaneum Library in Alba Iulia, the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest, the Romanian Athenaeum, Queen Maria's Villa in Mamaia, the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, the Cucuteni archaeological site of the National Museum Complex "Moldova" in Iaşi, the Tescani section of the National Museum "George Enescu", the villa of architect Paul Gottereau in Bucharest, the National Museum of Transylvania History in Cluj-Napoca, the Administration of the National Cultural Fund in Bucharest. The project, part of a financial effort of almost 900 million euros net intended for the rehabilitation and enhancement of the most important historical monument buildings and performance halls subordinated to the Ministry of Culture, is implemented by the Project Management Unit, the structure specialized in managing investments with European funds, with over 17 years of experience in this regard.
