A statistician tracking coaching careers, particularly in our football realm, might find themselves perplexed by the events of the past year. There's been an exhausting rotation for everyone involved, from those directly targeted to players, managers, supporters, and journalists. Contracts are mere pieces of paper, meant to be torn apart at some point, delicately or with frustration, and long-term projects are no longer taken seriously. With two exceptions, Farul and FCSB - where the coach is also the owner at the former, and the owner is also the coach at the latter - the rest of the teams are in constant market research, with cases of total absurdity, searching for a replacement for a coach installed just the day before. The lack of trust and vision at the moment of choosing someone to decide tactically and technically becomes a major problem and affects the clubs' activities. Neagoe, Reghecampf, Papură, Grozavu, Pârvu, Stângă, Poenaru, Dună, Petrea, Ciubotariu, Drăgan, Dică, Constantino, Croitoru, Alexa, Patache, Mandorlini, Napoli, Mutu are among the coaches dismissed or resigned in this (unfinished) season of the top league, and the chairs of others have been continuously shaking lately. In the lower divisions, things are even worse, with lists of dismissals being more extensive than those of tenants in a serious block of flats. There's already talk around the corners that, in addition to the aforementioned problem, the domestic coaching school will suffer a severe blow to its credibility if FCSB wins the championship (which it has very high chances to do), considering that decisions - from forming the starting lineup to substitutions - belong to the financier, who has neither played football nor has specialized training. A profession, otherwise highly esteemed and well-paid, is on the verge of becoming a laughingstock.
