Dacia - Renault estimates Romanian sales at over 110,000 units this year, following a 5% setback last year to nearly 108,000 units, according to Dacia GM Francois Fourmont, quoted by NewsIn.
He added he was optimistic about this year"s sales on the Romanian market, which he estimated at 110,000 units, up from last year"s 107,777 units. Fourmont added that it was too early to estimate the effects that the controversial "first registration tax" may have on sales. The tax itself and the ongoing discussion regarding its value caused Dacia sales to decrease in January.
Dacia Board VP Constantin Stroe added that the company had exported 5,824 units by January 22nd and that the company was focusing on 49 markets. International sales gained 19.6% in 2006, amid a 74% increase in exports to over 88,000 cars. On January 23rd, Dacia introduced an utility vehicle derived from the Logan model and intends to market it for less than 10,000 EUR.
