Employees of the 12 suppliers of the Dacia - Renault factory in Mioveni will be in technical unemployment between 20 November and 7 December following Dacia"s decision to suspend production. Leoni - Mioveni, Leoni - Pitesti, Johnson Control, Euro APS, Cortubi, Metal Impex, Maxiro, Piroux, Matrice Dacia, Presate Dacia, Eurest and ASI will tell their approximately 2,000 employees to stay home on 75% to 85% of their salaries, according an announcement from the Automobile Dacia Union. The Dacia factory will only be staffed by CKD and part of the retail staff. According to Ion Iordache, vice-president of the Automobile Dacia Union, only 3,000 employees will continue to go to work.
"The factory is not closing. Production will be stopped temporarily, but some units will continue to work normally. I cannot give you an exact number, but I believe that some 3,000 people will come to work. The actual number will fluctuate according to daily requirements. The losses are significant, but not huge. However, there is cause for concern regarding our activity in 2009," said Iordache. On top of the numbers announced by suppliers, Automobile Dacia will send approximately 11,000 workers into technical unemployment, too.
