EnglishDaewoo Automobile Romania expects the total value of cars, gear boxes and engines manufactured at its plant to reach 350.5 million USD, while sales are estimated at 380.7 million USD, according to company representatives, quoted by NewsIn. Last year, the total value of Daewoo Craiova"s output amounted to 322.5 million USD, while sales totaled 313.3 million USD, of which 40% were exports.
The company estimates it will manufacture 172,979 engines this year, up 48% from 2006. Gear boxes should reach 223,943 units, a 53% increase from last year. In the first quarter of the current year, Daewoo Romania"s car output totaled 9,207 Matiz, Cielo and Nubira units, and is expected to amount to 25,000 units by year-end, according to company representatives.
The privatisation commission of Automobile Craiova today begins negotiations with the sole bidder, Ford Motor Company. Currently, the majority shareholder is AVAS with 72,4% in the company, followed by SIF Oltenia (22%) and others (5.5%).
